In Nigerian culture, the palm-wine is a tool of social continuity with social and cultural values. The drink is served during casual visits, gatherings, formally at coronations and festivals, and also for relaxation.

The palm-wine cup (Iko-Nkwu) is a traditional Cup reserved for ceremonial drinking of palm wine in ceremonies, local bars and at home.
